Memories of Time

At the moment, my paintings are mainly concerned with abstraction, but an abstraction that is not entirely divorced from the figurative.
I will therefore start with a figurative element that is reduced to its bare essentials. These reduced elements are then suspended in a pictorial frame that is perceived as an empty space.
Black and white, primary colors, earthen ochres, smoked shadows, are subsequently introduced into this space.
It is in this fashion that I become free to explore the ambiguities of an image so that it remains open to a variety of readings. Thus, a multiplicity of imprints are repeatedly integrated into the creative process determined by this graphic-pictorial space.
